Oh, my new favorite technique!!!!

Well, after researching Faux Tiling, I had to try it and do it my way.  I will be honest, this is not an easy technique, nor is it quick...there are a lot of steps.  But I wanted to share what I did...SO FAR!  These faux tiling samples will will be made into BEAUTIFUL Christmas cards....actaully, when they are all done, they will be used for my Christmas Card swap cards for the November NJCROPWEEKENDS.com scrapbook weekend swaps...so here is a slight preview.

ok, so how is this done:

WIth my new favorite tool, the score pal, you can buy through SU, I cut my piece of paper 5x5 (because I wanted a perfect square).  You can do it any size, but your squares need to be "equal" size.  I scored the paper at 1.25, 2.50, 3.75 on both sides of the paper.  These score lines should be as deep as you can get.  They I chose  my background stamp....and stamped over the scores.  I then took a square "maskd" paper to cover over the score lines and I sponged around the tine squares, making the "grout" look.  What I did different....I didn't like the flat look.  I wanted dimension, so I used crystal effects on the centers of each "tile", avoiding the scored area.  Can I tell you, when the card top dried, it looked so much like grouted tile.  It is a lot of work....but so worth it.  I am awaiting a specific stamp set (retired SU stamp set from 1998) but I will finish these cards and let you see them...in a week or two!

Christmas Chipboard album

Using the new simply scrappin' kit from the holiday mini, I created this Christmas Chipboard album for our "Santa's Workshop" at the NJCropweekends, Crop Weekend, at the DOlce.  I will also be using this as a class in December for anyone who would like to give a homeade gift for the holidays.  With the addition of some extra embellishments, the scrappin' kit makes a great album!

 

Let your kids "Just do it"

Kaileigh came to me the other day and asked if she could make Haloween cards....and I finally said yes, but since I was busy getting my Christmas Class stuff done, I told she was on her own.  So she went "a huntin'" and found some of my old paper...even though she kept asing if it was ok to use, she went ahead and even got her siblings involved.  This is what she came up with.  I couldn't believe she used my white gel pen and made little tiny dots to bring out the web.  Amazing what an 8 year old can do when allowed to "just do it" herself.  Awesome job, my little girl!

photo tip:

take those favorite scrapbook or stamping products and get in close.  You can get the coolest pictures from the colors, shopes, and texture!  Try it the next time you have your camera out to play~

Well everyone, I am back after a long hiatus with a "bum" computer. I am finally up and running, downloading a ton of pictures (very upset because I lost some with my last computer)...lesson learned, always back up pictures every couple days because you never know when a problem with your computer will interrupt your life...UGH!

Today, I visited the "Ranger" warehouse sale with my friend Maureen and Erica. Couple things learned there, as well....you do not need to get there when it opens, because everyone does...even with $6 a lbs per product, you still can buy too much (but I did get some awesome deals), and you can never have too many stickles (is it an obsession or a sickness), you decide.
